Do you want to get to know me a little better?
What is it they say? Better late than never? I was tagged in a post just like this by Laura from Harassed Mom about a week ago, and then the wheels fell off the bus, and I just could’t get to doing it until now. I really like these posts because they help people see a little bit of the “real” person behind the blog which is sometimes nice to know. I love the simplicity of the questions, nothing too deep. I get to share a little bit of personal in a legit and fun manner. I really hope you enjoy. I look forward to doing my tagging at the end.
So here goes:
1. Are you named after someone?
Well my Dad was a Chef, and when I was born he was studying French cuisine. They rather liked the French name Michelle but then as it turned out one of their friends had a baby first and took that name. The next one they liked in the list of French names was Celestè and it’s meaning is “Heavenly body” so that’s how I got it.
2. When was the last time you cried?
I last did a proper “Ugly” cry at the funeral of my good friends father a few months back. These I must add were still un-cried tears from my own fathers passing because I didn’t actually know my friends Dad that well. It was really just an emotive culmination of things unspoken.
3. Do you have kids?
Yes, there were 3 when last I checked.
4. If you were another person, would you be a friend of yourself?
Of course, what’s not to like? I would love to have a friend like me :-)
5. Do you have a guilty pleasure?
Oh gosh, I have a few. I will eat an entire slab of Lindt Chilli on my own in one sitting, and I am very partial to Mugg and Bean Lemon Meringue Pie. On weekends I often have Pajama days too.
6. Do you like handwriting?
Not really. I am so used to typing, that if I find myself actually picking up a pen, it feels horribly awkward. I don’t write nearly as neatly as I used to. My hand gets almost shaky. Dare I say I am out of practice.
7. What is your favorite cereal?
My Home-made Granola. You can find the recipe here
8. What is the first thing you notice about people?
Smile and then hands strangely enough.
9. What color are your eyes?
I have medium green eyes but dependent on my mood they can go a deep grey blue too. If they are really bright green though then you better steer clear.
10. Scary movies or happy endings?
Love happy endings.
11. Favorite TV show?
House of Cards,Downtown Abbey, Modern Family (there are more, I am so starved for “big people” TV though, I will watch anything that isn’t a cartoon or a Disney movie)
12. Summer or winter?
I am a summer girl until about Mid March and then I can’t wait for the winter. I don’t like getting so hot that I don’t know what to do with myself, so by that time I start dreaming about clothes layering and winter fashions.
13. Hugs or kisses?
14. What’s the furthest you’ve been from home?
1100km’s away, when we visit my Mom in Law in the Northern Cape.
15. Do you have special talents?
I can kind of sing. They didn’t chase me out of the church worship band when I was in it, so i guess that’s true. I come from a very musical family. I love singing. I would love to find the time to take it up more seriously again. I also have a flute and can play a little on it but really just a little.I wouldn’t play in public. I cook really well thanks to my Dad. He was a Chef and taught me everything I know. I also feel that writing is a special talent. I adore writing and it is a hidden talent that I am only just starting to discover and explore.
16. Where were you born.
Mowbray Maternity hospital in Cape Town.
17. What are your hobbies?
Crochet, Reading, Cooking, and shopping if you can consider that a hobby.
18. Do you have any pets?
Yes, we have Luna who is a 2 year old American Staffordshire Terrier. Twila who is a 6 year old Chocolate Point Siamese and 2 Budgies and a Java Rice Finch.
19. Favorite movie?
These questions are getting harder. I have a few favorites but one I really enjoyed is “About Time” It stars Rachel McAdams and Domhnall Gleeson and is directed by Richard Curtis. It has got the most beautiful story and a very wise moral concept. I think it is an essential watch if you are struggling with the idea that you wish your life was different and often wish you could change how things happened.
20. What color is your car?
I have a Bronze Kia Picanto. My “big people” car is a Silver Chevrolet Orlando but my hubby drives that.
21. What did you want to be when you grow up?
A Copywriter. I should have followed through on that, but ended up doing a secretarial course, because I was told the ladies in our family were all secretaries and I should just do that. I didn’t question it. I am eternally sorry. I am considering studying again so I might look into marketing and communications.
