Made with love – Made in SA (A local clothing design label review)

I have to tell you all I am completely infatuated with good clothes and when I find good clothes especially those from local designers then I want to tell everybody about them. Recently, I had the good fortune of coming across the local design label “Made with Love” When I bought a really fantastic dress from a little boutique shop in Stellenbosch Cape Town called Lily’s Closet. I have subsequently acquired 3 more items in the range that are going to compliment my growing “new weight” summer wardrobe.

About the label (taken from their website):

“Made with love was established in 2010 by emerging fashion designer, Debbie-Lee Patterson. Her vision for the label is to create beautifully designed and comfortable, yet stylish items for everyday occasions. She was inspired to create a collection that’s not all about following current trends but rather her own expression of unique clothing for young ladies who love fashion. Using the best quality textiles and giving attention to detail and fit, made with love is a personal and feminine take on fashion for the modern woman.”

Now, anybody that knows me, knows that I don’t always follow the regular chain store trends and like to be a little different with my style and that changes from time to time.  What I love most about this label is not only that their clothes are superbly made and also designed in our very own Cape Town, but that they also use very high quality fabrics and that their designs are very beautifully thought out and compliment most body shapes.  Their sizing is for the Small to Medium sized range but fits beautifully and doesn’t leave you wishing you never went shopping in the first place, which is usually what happens to me,given that I have had 3 children and have a little extra baggage packing in certain areas that I struggle to get rid of.  Because the designs are thought out so well the clothes fit you just like they are meant to and make you feel really amazing when you are wearing them.

Now while I agree that not everything in the collection will be everybody’s cup of tea, I love that they cater for a variety of preference but keep the range very much ‘together” in terms of a style which should have everybody liking all to most of their range therefore being able to mix and match items to create a really great wardrobe of excellent quality locally produced product. This label is for the young, and young at heart, whoever feels comfortable in it should wear it…. even a near 40 year old Mom of 3 like me. I see a little Boho chic,  a little vintage feminine and some 70’s/80’s inspired styles… a veritable cornucopia of edgy “on trend” looks to suit pretty much anybody with a love for fashion.

I came across their clothing purely by chance while shopping for a suitable dress to wear to a vintage tea party I was attending.  I specifically went to Lily’s closet because i know they cater for the more “vintage” look.  When I walked in I just knew!  I saw the dress before I even stepped into the store, it was perfect.  The dress I bought was a fabulous Coral colour with a Cream underdress but exactly the same as the gorgeous black one in the photo.

When I took it off the rail I looked at it an almost felt like I would be wasting my time trying it on because something that body hugging could never look good on my post preggy body.  Well I was wrong.  I put on the dress and its almost like it sucked away every lump bump and roll.  I felt like a Goddess!

In the collection you will find Dresses long and short, Tops, pants, shorts, vests, blouses, skirts and Jackets, something for everyone.

I already have my eye on my next purchase the Azetec Print Bodycon below, I can think of nothing more trendy right now to be wearing this summer, dress it down for a day out and about or dress it up for sundowners or dinner out with a loved one, this is sure to have many heads turning… come on can you say ‘Yummy Mummy”??

I bought 3 gorgeous crop tops in a soft cotton knit that are in the most divine colors.  They will be perfect for the amounting summer heat paired with soft knit maxi skirt or high wasted denim shorts or even Skinny Jeans and linen pants. These are an addition to my wardrobe I surely won’t regret.

The items in their collection range from about R150-R500 making it a very affordable and exclusive option for those of you that are tired of the same old same old in the chain stores that every second person wears. never again will you arrive at a party wearing the same dress as the hostess!
