This past weekend I attended the #CTMeetup blogger event organised by Cindy Alfino from 3 Kids, 2 Dogs and 1 Old House. It was a stunning affair and you can read all about it on Cindy’s blog. It was held at the quaint corner Restaurant Eat on Main in Observatory. There were fantastic little bites to eat, and a stunning Vegetarian pasta meal for me, and a lovely Pavlova for desert. The restaurant owner really went out of his way to accommodate everybody and their needs.
For the blogging minded there were some very important topics dealt with, by some amazing and well established bloggers. Samantha Wright from Tech Girl and Ruan Fourie from gevaaalik.com shared some incredible knowledge with us. Do bear in mind that these bloggers, although their blogs have very specific niches, and may not be up everybody’s alley, are self-made and they have all the experience in the world where successful blogging is concerned, and were able to give us a peek into what has worked for them over time to help them on the road to success.
I took away a massive amount of valuable information, and have already started to implement some of what I learned. Because my readers are not all bloggers, I wont spend too much time on that specifically, but it basically boiled down to evaluating what your worth is as a blogger, and also establishing a sure-fire way to actually make your blog a success, and have it work for you in the way that you envisioned it should, and for many bloggers that does mean financially speaking of course.
Ruan also touched on some important ways to help your blog to grow, which was very useful to me. One of the biggest things I came to realize though is that you, my readers want consistency, and so that is one of the first things I want to try to get right. I want to turn my blog into a space where you will know from Monday to Friday what you can expect from me, whether it be a newsletter, giveaway, review or Feature post of some kind. I want you to feel secure in the knowledge that you can expect good content from me often and on a consistent basis.
I also got to spend some time with some wonderful friends from the blogging community. Some that I have met before, and some that I was just meeting for the first time. There were many other wonderful blogger there and I took many pictures But here are just a few of them. If you click on the images you can even go say hi on their blogs if you’d like.
Cindy had organized the fantastic people from Brand Rocket to put up one of their event printers and if we published any picture on Twitter or Instagram with the Hashtag #CTMeetup we could print it right there and then and have a great little Memento.
So that was pretty much what the aim of the event was all about in a nutshell, but because most of my readers here are probably not that into the in’s and out’s of blogging, I thought I would do the next best thing and unpack a few of the items from my Goodie Bag for you.
Now what would an event like this be without a goodie bag? This of course would not be the main reason I go to these types of events, but it’s always fun to get one and I can quite easily say that this was one of the nicest goodie bags I have ever received. Cindy really out did herself putting it all together, and finding such great sponsors. I also was really lucky to be the recipient of one of the spot lucky draw prize. I won a fantastic hamper of Spatone, Bach and Better You products. Spatone were even at the event testing everyone’s iron levels. I was really pleased that mine were actually all good, because I have been wondering. There were also a few of the Bach & Better You products in the goodie bag, as well as a very handy Buchu Life First aid Gel.
I was particularly impressed with the Better You Vitamin B12 Boost Spray and Vitamin D-Lux Spray that I won because these were really things that I actually needed, and am so excited to be giving them a try. Among the Health & Wellness items was also a teeny pot of Coconut Connection Coconut oil. I actually know this oil well, but my husband was quite delighted because he got to take it to use as a beard softener because it came in just the right sized container.
So I thought I would just share a few of the items for you from the Beauty and Health & Wellness items I received. It’s hard to say what my favorite item was exactly. I though it would be the Revlon Mascara or Almay eyeliner, and although it is really a cool new style mascara and I need it, it turns out it may actually rather be the South African dermatologically developed IQ Skincare SA Ultra Rich Advanced Anti Ageing Renewing serum, or Advantage products from African Extracts Rooibos that stand out as my top favorite items. There is quite a lot I didn’t picture here, and there were many other interesting pamphlets, vouchers and sample items, and other amazing full-sized products, like deodorant, soaps and a Xander Plush toy which my kids thought was great.
Also, how cool is an event where you get to leave with a great bottle of wine? I got this lovely bottle of Esona Pinot Noir ‘Frankly my Dear” that has been carefully created out in the Robertson Wine Valley. It really was a lovely treat.
Another really cool thing was a voucher for a lifetime membership to Aramex Global Shopper which you can find out about here.
So if you are a blogger, or have a blog that you want to get up and running, and don’t want to miss out on the next event, then you should totally sign up to Cindy’s newsletter which you will find details for on her most recent post.
And there you have it. That about sums up how fantastic my Saturday afternoon was. I really enjoyed this event and I took a lot home from it, not just a goodie bag. I really am going to try my level best to turn this blog into one of the best places for you to come and where you will find the things you most love to see and read.
