Want to go up Table Mountain? {#KidzSeason review + Cable Car Ticket Giveaway worth R1300}

*Sponsored Prize*

From the title of this post you will guess, that by the end of it, you may soon possibly be going up Table Mountain. If going up our beloved Mountain in a Cable Car is something you have always dreamed of and never done, then read on. I am the happy blogger fairy that can make your wish come true.

At the beginning of May The Table Mountain Aerial Cableway opened #KidzSeason. What this means for families with more than one child, is that they now can easily afford a trip up our African Wonder too, with their awesome 3 for 1 promotion where one adult paying for a return ticket of R240 can take two kids up absolutely free. Our family were very lucky to be able to spend last Saturday up the mountain as a part of the opening of Kidz Season. We had so much fun.  And as one of my kids aptly put it, “Had the best day ever!”

None of my children have ever been up and it was only my second time, so I am not sure who was actually more excited. Me or them! We were so impressed with the entire operation. From the moment we stopped in the car park and got onto the free MyCiti bus that travels from lower Tafelberg Road to the Cable station every 20 minutes,  to getting off the cable car that rotates while you are on it so you get an amazing birds eye view and being greeted with one of the smoothest running operations I have come across in a long time. The facilities, staff, management and mountain are amazing.  We lacked for nothing, all the staff are incredibly friendly and attentive and they made our experience on the mountain excellent.

As part of the #KidzSeason promotion, the kids each get a little treasure map to keep them occupied on top and included in that, are vouchers for some sweet treats that can be handed in at the Shop at the Top and the Table Mountain Cafe where we enjoyed a sumptuous Buffet Lunch and the kiddies each devoured Giant Pizza slices. I also really loved that all plates and cups used in the restaurant and at all the other areas selling beverages and foods, are all compostable and Eco Friendly.  The Mountain is also very Water-wise and committed to remaining as Green as possible.  You can read about their advocacy of Responsible Tourism here.

It was pretty chilly up on the Mountain and there was a lot of cloud, but we saw so much and the view from the newly launched Wifi Lounge was so special, because it was as if we were sitting right on top of the clouds. The WiFi lounge was a divine solace from the chill outside and allowed us the opportunity to relax on comfy couches, charge our phones and allow the kids to freely look out the windows while we enjoyed a cappuccino from the kiosk.

I thought I would share some of the pictures of our time at the mountain and then once you have checked those out you can get onto the best part of this post….Your chance to take your family up the mountain too!

  1. I took advantage of the go up for free on your birthday ticket recently, and as you might expect, the trip was brilliant. So I definitely wouldn’t mind taking the girls up with me next time so that they can also experience it! :)

    1. Actually, on their website they state a child rate for kids between the age of 4 and 17. That is a good question though.

  2. We’ve been up the mountain a couple of times already but it doesn’t get old, the absolute best view ever!

  3. I have been up the cable car once as a student, it was beautiful! I would love to share that experience with my children (we are always looking for fun stuff to do with them) and my husband. It would be such a treat for the whole family! Thanks for a stunning giveaway.

    1. It took me another 10 years to go up after my very first visit. Here’s hoping you get to go up soon again.

  4. We went for the first time late last year and it was amazing, the four-year-old had a ball and didn’t even mind the long wait.

  5. I would love to take my son up – he was taken up the mountain when he was very small & can’t remember it at all.
Secretly my hubbie & I would also be thrilled to go!
PS – Love your blog name :-)

    1. Aw, thank you Cathy, that’s very sweet. Well I am holding thumbs for you. I hope that you will get to experience the mountain very soon again.

  6. I last went up the mountain 20-25 years ago! My son has never been. I would dearly love to experience the new cable car (which I guess is not all that new anymore!) and I just know my son would be thrilled to experience that feeling of being on top of the world!

  7. Hi Celeste, Ive been on Table Mountain before and it is fantastic, however, I have 2 kids and we have never been up there as a family. So it would really great to do that trip with my wife and kids!

  8. I would love to win these tickets. I haven’t been up the mountain in ages and I haven’t taken my girls up there yet and I know they would just love the experience

  9. I have never been on top of table mountain or went on the cable car. Htis would be a dream come true

  10. Following on Facebook and Twitter @laurengerber1 I live in Cape Town and I have been up Table Mountain. I went years back with my work , we were asked to show some of the international visitors around, we were so happy. I would love to go on a non work related trip up the mountain and take my time. Its soooo beautiful. I love cape town.

  11. I’ve been up the mountain once or twice before I got married. I’d love to win this prize because Rushdi is OBSESSED with Table Mountain every time he sees it (so every day) and I think he’d love it so much if we could visit all the time.
